4RUNNER ENGINE
4Runner Engine FAQs
Every 2025+ 4Runner uses a 2.4L turbocharged engine. The i-FORCE makes up to 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque and is standard on SR5, TRD Sport and TRD Sport Premium, while the i-FORCE MAX hybrid makes 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft and is standard on TRD Pro, Trailhunter and Platinum, and available on TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium and Limited, per Toyota for the 2025 and 2026 model years.
For the intake and charge side, we carry the SXTH Element CPLT Intake, Turbo Inlet, Charge Pipe Kit and Front Mount Intercooler, the aFe Momentum GT Cold Air Intake and the COBB SF Intake System, along with the SXTH Element Catch Can Kit. Check each product page for engine and grade compatibility before ordering.
An aftermarket cold air intake on the 2025+ 4Runner is mainly chosen for induction sound and a less restrictive air path, and we do not publish horsepower gains for these parts. Intake options we carry include the aFe Momentum GT Cold Air Intake, the SXTH Element CPLT Intake and the COBB SF Intake System.
If you want to keep the factory airbox, drop-in filters from K&N, AEM and COBB replace the stock element. Toyota fits TRD Pro with a TRD performance air intake and Trailhunter with a low-profile high-mount air intake, so check the product page for grade and engine compatibility before ordering.
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void an entire factory warranty simply because aftermarket parts are installed. A specific claim can still be denied if a modification is determined to have caused the failure, and ECU changes are detectable. Warranty decisions are made by Toyota and its dealers, not by LIMIT+1.
Yes. Tell us your vehicle, your goals, and what is already installed, and we will put together a parts list that works as a system instead of a pile of individual upgrades. Order matters as much as part selection, and sequencing a build correctly avoids buying the same part twice. Contact us before you order if you want a second opinion on a plan.
Toyota 4Runner Engine Parts and Performance Upgrades
This collection covers 4Runner engine parts including intakes, filters, catch cans, cooling components, and supporting hardware for the i-FORCE 2.4L turbocharged four cylinder and the i-FORCE MAX hybrid.
The sixth generation move to forced induction changed what is possible here. The turbocharged i-FORCE responds to airflow and calibration in a way the naturally aspirated V6 never did, which makes intakes, charge cooling, and tuning worth doing rather than marginal. For any 4Runner that tows or runs loaded at altitude, cooling and fluid management matter more than peak output.
