Tacoma Engine FAQs

Every 4th generation Tacoma uses a 2.4L turbocharged four cylinder, either as the i-FORCE gas engine or paired with an electric motor as the i-FORCE MAX hybrid. For the 2026 model year Toyota rates the i-FORCE at up to 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft and the i-FORCE MAX at up to 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft.

Engine parts on our Tacoma list include cold air intakes from aFe, Injen, K&N, Mishimoto and SXTH Element, charge pipes from aFe, K&N and SXTH Element, and the SXTH Element Front Mount Intercooler and Turbo Inlet. Fitment by engine and grade, plus any requirements, are listed on each product page, and we are happy to help you confirm them before you order.

A cold air intake on a Tacoma mainly changes the intake path, filter type and induction sound, so treat it as a supporting part of a build rather than a large power increase on its own. Our Tacoma list includes the aFe Momentum GT, Injen Power-Flow, K&N 63 Series and 77 Series, Mishimoto Performance Air Intake, SXTH Element CPLT Intake and COBB SF Intake System.

Toyota fits the TRD Pro with a TRD performance air intake and the Trailhunter with a high-mount intake at the A-pillar, so check each product page for fitment by grade and engine. If you want to keep the factory airbox, the COBB High Flow Drop In Engine Filter is an option, and aFe, AEM and K&N replacement air filters are also listed, with the product page stating what each filter fits.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void an entire factory warranty simply because aftermarket parts are installed. A specific claim can still be denied if a modification is determined to have caused the failure, and ECU changes are detectable. Warranty decisions are made by Toyota and its dealers, not by LIMIT+1.

Yes. Tell us your vehicle, your goals, and what is already installed, and we will put together a parts list that works as a system instead of a pile of individual upgrades. Order matters as much as part selection, and sequencing a build correctly avoids buying the same part twice. Contact us before you order if you want a second opinion on a plan.

Toyota Tacoma Engine Parts and Performance Upgrades

This collection covers Tacoma engine parts including intakes, filters, catch cans, cooling components, and the supporting hardware for the i-FORCE 2.4L turbocharged four cylinder, the i-FORCE MAX hybrid, and the third generation 3.5L V6.

The fourth generation move to forced induction opened a path the naturally aspirated trucks never had. The turbocharged i-FORCE responds to airflow and calibration in a way the V6 did not, which makes intakes, charge cooling, and tuning meaningful rather than marginal. For trucks that tow or run loaded at altitude, cooling and fluid management matter more than peak power. Third generation owners are generally better served by gearing, weight reduction, and supporting maintenance than by chasing horsepower from the 2GR-FKS.
